We're excited to announce the launch of a major new project in Tanzania that’s set to reshape how clean energy systems operate across sub-Saharan Africa. Working in partnership with Tanzanian renewable energy provider Powerhut Renewables, enee.io is deploying a next-generation demand-side energy management and control system on a live mini-grid site—bringing intelligence, automation, and real-time control into the heart of energy infrastructure.

Backed by the British High Commission in Tanzania and Innovate UK under the Contracts for Innovation: Clean Energy Demonstrators in Tanzania programme, the project runs from May 2025 to March 2026 and aims to address one of the most pressing issues in clean energy: aligning demand with unpredictable renewable supply.
The enee.io system is developing beyond monitoring. Bringing in AI-driven load control and management, combined with predictive analytics will help shape when and how energy is used. The result? Lower operational costs, more reliable power, and a big reduction in emissions. We’re targeting a 20% reduction in running costs, which can significantly boost the long-term viability of clean energy system projects.
The technology showcased here will power growth in other African markets, especially in the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector, where energy reliability and cost efficiency are critical for scale. From solar farms in Nigeria to C&I operations across Africa, enee.io’s control platform is built for flexibility and expansion.
As part of the initiative, we’re also investing in local software skills and supporting capacity development within Tanzania’s growing clean energy ecosystem—aligning with national goals for industrialisation and inclusive development.
This isn’t just a tech deployment. It’s a demonstration of what clean energy can become when you put intelligence and control at the centre. We’re unlocking real economic and environmental value—and setting a foundation for smarter, more resilient energy systems across Africa.” - David Smith, CEO
Stay tuned for updates as we roll out this groundbreaking project—and show how smarter energy systems can accelerate climate action and clean energy access across the continent.
